Preparing hot dogs for the Van
Donors and friends of Dans la rue are welcome to make a difference in their community by helping to prepare the hot dogs that are handed out during the Van’s nightly rounds.
Every Wednesday evening, we host groups of 6 to 10 volunteers (18+) at our Day Centre to prepare between 700 to 1000 hot dogs that will be served from the Dans la rue Van. Volunteers are asked to come in from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. to get everything ready. They will be given a tour of the Day Centre and the Van at the end of their shift.
Please note that
- Applicants will be provided with the exact address for the activity and other details with their official confirmation.
- We do not offer volunteer activities for groups of more than 10 people.
- No other time slots or alternative activities are available for groups.
- The number of available volunteer slots is the same during the holiday season as it is at other times of the year.

Select the date you would like to come and prepare hot dogs, then fill out the form to submit your request.
All group volunteer activities are fully booked until the end of March 2026.

- February: booking opens for April, May, and June 2026
- May: booking opens for July, August, and September 2026
- August: booking opens for October, November, and December 2026
