2.1 Definition

Dans la rue has implemented numerous physical, technological and administrative security measures to protect personal information and confidential data from unauthorized access, use and disclosure, and other types of breaches.
8.2 Access Management
Only individuals whose duties require access to personal or private information are granted such access. Data access is logged and monitored.
8.3 Training and Awareness
Dans la rue’s employees, volunteers and partners receive training on and are made aware of the importance of protecting personal information.
8.4 Privacy Impact Assessment
Dans la rue prepares a privacy impact assessment (PIA) when acquiring, developing or redesigning any information systems or electronic service delivery systems involving the collection, use, disclosure, retention or destruction of personal information. The impact assessment must establish that the use of personal information is warranted.
If information is transferred outside Quebec, a privacy impact assessment will be conducted for the transfer process.
8.5 Privacy Breach Management
If Dans la rue determines that a privacy breach presenting a serious risk has taken place, it will immediately inform the Commission d’accès à l’information, as well as anyone whose information has been compromised by the breach. Dans la rue may also notify any person or organization capable of reducing this risk, disclosing only such personal information as is necessary for this purpose, without the consent of the person(s) involved. In all cases, the incident will be logged for reference purposes.
8.6 Destruction
Dans la rue has physical and technological security measures in place to ensure that the personal information it stores is protected from accidental or inadequate destruction, loss and disclosure.
Dans la rue keeps personal information only for as long as is necessary for the purposes for which it was collected. Dans la rue then destroys or de-identifies the information in accordance with the law and its own data retention schedule. During the process of destruction or de-identification, Dans la rue takes all necessary measures to ensure that privacy is maintained and that no unauthorized persons are able to access personal information.
