Medical studies inspired by volunteer experience

Medical student Alex Gold has been a volunteer with Dans la rue’s Van for the last six years. He recently spoke about his experience reaching out to homeless and at-risk youth on 98.5 FM’s Le midi program, recounting that his volunteer work had in fact inspired him to study medicine. He finds it rewarding to give hope to people going through a difficult time and wanted a career where he could do the same.

The importance of establishing lasting relationships with the youth

Alex stressed the importance of establishing lasting relationships with the youth who come to the Van in order to be able to guide them toward Dans la rue’s other services. He highly recommends volunteering with the Van and urges anyone who is interested to contact the organization directly.

Many thanks to Alex and all our volunteers, who make such a difference in the lives of youth experiencing homelessness. We couldn’t do it without you!
